British Florida
1763-1783

CONCLUSION
East and West Florida remained loyal to Great Britain during the American Revolution because of three reasons.  First, the colonies were formed right before the American Revolution so they did not have generations of colonists making up their citizenry.  Second, the population was tiny compared to their northern neighbors.  The colonies' populations were made up of predominantly loyalists.  The tiny population was therefore loyalist.  Finally, British soldiers were invited to protect the colonists from Spanish and Indian attack.  They were welcomed rather than resented.
